Camille’s BA in English from Idaho, her MA in painting from Cal Berkeley and summer job as a blackjack dealer at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe taught her just what she needed for a career in advertising: how to deal with art, copy and people. Sometimes wacky people.
New to Manhattan and newly married to a Y&R research guy, she was lonely painting at home. He brought home a storyboard pad where she drew pictures in the tv shapes and wrote copy underneath. Made up print ads. Thought she’d be an art director, but became a writer instead. For 40years. And loved every minute.
At McCaffrey & McCall, then Goldberg/Marchesano, Grey, McCann-Erickson, Bates and finally at JWT, she created campaigns for clients like IKEA, Hiram Walker and Pfizer, got promoted, won a few awards and made lifelong friends. She lives with her second husband Bill Stevens in Manhattan and Connecticut. Through AdVets for WarVets, she continues to fulfill her passion for painting, writing and people.
