The First World War... “The Great War”.

There are all kinds of speculations as to why the First World War was also referred to as “The Great War.”

There are those that call it “The Great War” because it was literally greater than any waged before.

Over 59 million troops were mobilized, over 10 million laid down their lives and over 29 million were injured in the struggle and the ripple effect was felt around the world.

In the Bible, in the book of John 15:13 it says, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Only history truly remembers why we war... the joy of any armistice is forever tinged with the blood of those willing to lay down their lives!
